The founder had an extensive career as a classroom teacher spanning many years. Eventually, she transitioned into being a homeschool teacher for her own children. Despite her children’s remarkable academic and musical achievements, she encountered difficulties in finding the necessary support to nurture their talents. This moment marks the birth of our cause: To ensure that every child in Houston and the surrounding areas, has the opportunity to explore, learn, and excel in various fields through early education in arts, STEM, and academic enrichment. We believe in nurturing the diverse talents of our youth, fostering a love for learning, and providing equal access to educational resources. Through The WayMaker, we aim to secure and solidify programming access and ability, empowering at risk youth to unlock their full potential and contribute to a brighter future for our community. Now we open doors towards connecting coaches, tutors, parents, mentors and volunteers to help at-risk youth, foster children, low and moderate income youth as well.
We are committed to greatly intensifying early education program ability to vulnerable youth who face challenges connecting to our city’s resources. We will maintain close collaboration with programs, coaches, tutors, parents and volunteers that have a proven successful track record in training youth. Through The WayMaker we bridge the gaps and breakdown barriers for at-risk youth and foster children who otherwise are left out of educational resources and enrichment programs.
